Acknowledging the recent passing of Mrs Maewa Thornton
“Tiwhatiwha te pō, tiwhatiwha te ao,
Tiwhatiwha te pō, tiwhatiwha te ao...”
Kua mū te reo waitī, te reo motuhake o te manutīoriori o Manutūkē,
te uri o Rongowhakaata, o Ruapani, otirā tēnei mokopuna a Te Kooti Rikirangi Te Turuki.
Te Tira Whakaari Trust acknowledges the recent passing of Mrs Maewa Thornton, a long standing Trustee of Te Tira Whakaari who was laid to rest yesterday at her urupā in Manutūkē.
Maewa was a proud and strong advocate of the vision and mission of Te Tira Whakaari. She upheld the mana of Te Kooti Rikirangi in her work as a trustee attending and supporting all our events. Maewa also took a lead role in working alongside Museums to ensure taonga relating to Te Kooti was appropriately cared for. We thank her husband, children and mokopuna for sharing Maewa with us and enabling her to attend to her responsibilities as a trustee so diligently and passionately.
Nā reira e te mareikura haere atu ra, kia pūmau koe i roto i te aroha mutunga kore o to tātou Matua Nui i Te Rangi.
Te Tira Whakaari Trustees.
