Remembering Mr Peter Moeau
Tiwhatiwha te pō, tiwhatiwha te ao
Tiwhatiwha te pō, tiwhatiwha te ao...
Aue te mamae me te pouri! It is with great sadness that we acknowledge the sudden passing of Mr. Peter Moeau. Peter was a negotiator representing Ngā Uri o Te Kooti Rikirangi’s claim against the Crown, which led to the establishment of Te Tira Whakaari Trust.
He was an educator, historian, writer, orator, and fierce advocate for his koroua, Te Kooti Rikirangi. Peter was generous in providing his stories and knowledge that contributed to our mission to educate rangatahi and raise public awareness of the contribution of Te Kooti Rikirangi to Aotearoa New Zealand’s history.
We were very fortunate to have Peter author our most recent resource, Te Whakarere i Wharekauri, which has been distributed widely to schools across Aotearoa.
Nā reira, e Pita, te mokopuna o Te Matua Tangata, hoki atu ki te rua o Matariki ki o tipuna e tatari mai ana.
Te Tira Whakaari Trustees.
